 The Safety & Security Committee of the Association of Tourism Hwange (ATH) is dedicated to ensuring a safe and secure environment for visitors, wildlife and local communities. Its key objectives include developing strategies to combat poaching, enhancing safety measures for tourists and fostering collaboration with law enforcement and community stakeholders. The committee works proactively to address security challenges, from deterring wildlife crime to improving emergency response systems.

Objectives: 

  • Improve coordination of anti-poaching efforts
  • Support and empower law enforcement agencies in their efforts to combat poaching.
  • Increase stakeholders visibility in communities to build trust and support for conservation efforts.

Action Plan: 

  • Mapping and response
  • Arrange a meeting with the Council to discuss management strategies for the dump site
  • Environmental issues are matters that need inclusivity. Concerns usually addressed by the concerned. What can be done to ensure inclusivity?
  • Charcoaling
  • A security officer will be designated in each zone (CWF, Terry and others to lead the effort). 
  • Implement a system for on-site reporting of potential threats, such as poaching or tree cutting, to ensure prompt action.
