The Projects Committee of the Association of Tourism Hwange (ATH) is committed to driving initiatives that enhance the region’s tourism infrastructure, community development and conservation efforts. Its primary objectives include identifying, planning and implementing projects that align with ATH’s mission of sustainable tourism growth. From improving visitor facilities to supporting community-led conservation programs, the committee works collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure projects deliver tangible benefits.

Objectives:

  • focus on citizen science, and waste management to address specific community needs
  • to create more jobs in our communities
  • to showcase and promote artisans and entrepreneurs in the Hwange region
  • to improve the quality of life for residents of the Hwange region
  • to increase citizen science in the Hwange Region

Action Plan:

  • establish a list of all existing projects in the Hwange region
  • create greater visibility for projects in the Hwange region
  • develop projects that will produce Hwange branded products
  • increase skills training in the Hwange Region
  • improve water supply in the local communities, drill boreholes and equip them with solar power to enhance water accessibility
  • Establish broader projects that allow for revenue sharing with the community, enhancing local engagement and support.
