The Environment Committee of the Association of Tourism Hwange (ATH) is dedicated to preserving the ecological integrity of the Hwange region. Its primary objectives include promoting sustainable tourism practices, combating environmental threats such as poaching and deforestation and advocating for the protection of vital habitats and wildlife. The committee works collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure that conservation efforts align with community needs, safeguarding the region’s biodiversity while fostering economic growth.

Objectives:

  • Establish a Committee to address environmental issue
  • Arrange a meeting with the Council to discuss management strategies for the dump site
  • Environmental issues are matters that need inclusivity. Concerns usually addressed by the concerned. What can be done to ensure inclusivity?

  • Lodges and tourism operators should adhere to green tourism certification to enhance sustainability efforts.
  • Increase citizen science and involvement of the local community in environmental initiatives and activities, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility.
